James Foster Reed was born during America’s Bicentennial in 1976 and grew up in the long shadow of old stories, unpredictable weather, and the uneasy feeling that history never really goes away.
By day, he works in a world of pressure, systems, and human failure, where mistakes carry consequences and calm is often borrowed time. Writing became both escape and counterweight: a way to step sideways into myth, tragedy, and the strange places where ancient patterns still survive beneath modern life.
Reed enjoys mythology, science, classic almost-anything, and writes novels and short stories about the various ways people, nature, history, and occasionally the gods can make a mess of things.
He lives with his lovely wife, a dog convinced it runs the household, a cat that may actually do so, and a couple of kids who, against all available odds, seem to be turning out all right.
